Max City BBQ | Our Story

Southern BBQ rooted in Eagle Rock
Max City BBQ has been smoking brisket, ribs, and pulled pork on Eagle Rock Boulevard since 2014. We started as a catering outfit and built something the neighborhood could call its own.

Where it started: catering
Max City BBQ launched as a catering company in 2010, earning loyal fans before we ever had a front door. When the time came to open in Eagle Rock, we Kickstarter-funded the build — and the neighborhood showed up.
The food, first and always
Slow-smoked brisket, St. Louis-style ribs, pulled pork, BBQ chicken, and smoked jalapeño cheddar links — made with locally sourced ingredients and traditional recipes. We believe barbecue doesn't have to be bad for you. It just has to be delicious.
A neighborhood spot, not a chain
Wood bar, brick walls, and seats that fill up fast — especially on happy hour nights. Open Tuesday through Sunday; grab a tray to go or settle in for a full rack.
What the critics noticed
Eater LA covered our Kickstarter-funded opening and called out the brisket and pulled pork early on. The Infatuation named us "good all-around BBQ" — with particular praise for the St. Louis-style ribs.
Bring the smoke home
Our small-batch BBQ sauces and rubs are available online and in store. The catering team brings the whole spread — weddings, corporate lunches, and backyard parties across greater Los Angeles.
